Onychomycosis is a fungal infection that causes nail disfigurement, pain and infection and impacts millions of people throughout the world. Though several antifungal treatments are currently available, they often fail for various reasons.
Hepatitis is defined as liver inflammation usually caused by the hepatitis virus. There are of 5 types of hepatitis: A, B, C, D and E. At times, our own immune system will attack the liver, which is termed as autoimmune hepatitis disease. Common symptoms include fever, jaundice, fatigue, abdominal pain, dark urine, pale stool, loss of appetite and weight loss.
FDA is committed to expanding access to safe and effective treatment options for patients with rare, debilitating, and sometimes fatal diseases. These patients face unique medical challenges. Sometimes there isn’t an FDA-approved drug to adequately address the needs of a patient with a rare disease. Therefore, the agency needs to take new steps to enable more patients with unmet needs to get access to promising treatments prior to full FDA approval.
Investors in digital health have been busy this year. In the first half of 2017, 188 startups took in $3.5 billion in investments—a record setting amount. It’s not hard to see why. Patients and providers are both looking to digital health tools to get better treatment and improve the relationship dynamic. With all that money flowing into some very intriguing startups, and it’s a good idea to know what the digital health industry holds for us in the coming years.
