Yuheng Pharmaceutical, founded by Zhu Jiman, the “Northeast Medicine King”, once became famous in the industry through continuous large-scale mergers and acquisitions of many pharmaceutical companies such as Auno Pharmaceutical and Shanghai Huatuo. In the end, it fell into a downturn due to frequent mergers and acquisitions. Recently, Yuheng Pharmaceutical handed in its first semi-annual report after the reorganization. The net profit attributable to the parent company in the first half of 2024 was 125 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 342.39%, and a substantial increase in profits. How did Yuheng Pharmaceutical recover so quickly? We have to talk about PD-1. There are many competitors in the PD-1/L1 field. In June 2024, the listing application of Enlangsubai monoclonal antibody of Shijiazhuang Pharmaceutical Group was officially approved. So far, there are at least 15 PD-1/L1 monoclonal antibodies approved for listing in China. The PD-1/L1 track, which is being chased by major ...
The current development status of the global and Chinese small molecule anti-tumor targeted drug industry China is a major cancer country in the world. The main types of malignant cancer in China are lung cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, liver cancer, breast cancer and esophageal cancer. The high incidence and death of cancer patients has created a huge demand for innovative therapeutic drugs and treatment schemes. From the perspective of the overall Chinese market, the market size of small molecule anti-tumor drugs in China will reach 73.4 billion yuan in 2023, and it is expected to further grow to 207.5 billion yuan in 2030. The compound annual growth rate during this period is 16.0%, far exceeding the global level during the same period, demonstrating the strong growth momentum of the Chinese market. Representative enterprise of China’s small molecule anti-tumor targeted drug industry – Zhejiang Tongtongkang Pharmaceutical From the perspective of ...
Drugdu.com expert’s response: Antibody drugs and RNA drugs are two distinct categories of biotechnology medications, each possessing unique strengths and weaknesses. Below is a detailed analysis of their respective advantages and disadvantages: Ⅰ. Advantages of Antibody Drugs High Specificity: Antibody drugs can specifically recognize and bind to target antigens, typically proteins on cell surfaces, providing a high degree of selectivity that minimizes damage to normal cells. Long-lasting Effect: Antibody drugs typically have longer half-lives, enabling extended duration of action within the body, reducing the frequency of dosing and enhancing patient convenience. Low Immunogenicity: Fully humanized antibody drugs exhibit lower immunogenicity, mitigating the risk of immune reactions and improving drug tolerability and safety. High Success Rate: In clinical studies, antibody drugs demonstrate significantly higher success rates compared to traditional small-molecule chemical drugs. In the US, approximately 25%-30% of large-molecule drugs (including antibody drugs) entering clinical trials are ultimately approved for market, ...
Beijing Drug Administration held a half-year working meeting, at which the work of issuing the country’s first stem cell “drug production license” was particularly recognized. According to the search results of “Administrative License Information” on the website of Beijing Drug Administration, Platinum Bio-Excellence Biotechnology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. is the first company to obtain the national stem cell drug production license. The issuance of the Drug Manufacturing License is of epoch-making significance as it is the first drug manufacturing license specifically for stem cell drugs in China. The issuance of the Drug Manufacturing License signifies that the relevant enterprise has obtained the legal qualification and ability to manufacture stem cell drugs. In recent years, with the introduction of policies such as the “14th Five-Year Plan” for the development of bio-economy, China has clearly put forward the development of new technologies such as stem cell therapy, strengthening the synergy between industry, academia, ...

Oncimmune, an autoantibody profiling company providing research services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry to enable the delivery of precision medicine, has announced a new contract with a global pharma company. Following a successful pilot carried out for a major pharmaceutical company, Oncimmune has entered into an agreement for a major new project with the same customer, with a contract value of at least US$1.5m. During the pilot project, Oncimmune was able to demonstrate that it can reliably profile Immunoglobulin E (‘IgE’) autoantibodies in blood serum using its high-throughput bead-based platform. The new project is expected to be delivered over the next six months, with the majority of the revenue therefore falling into FY2025. Martin Gouldstone, CEO of Oncimmune said: “I am delighted that our scientific team has demonstrated our ability to measure IgE, which is much harder to detect in blood serum than other immunoglobulins, using our high-throughput platform.” ...
Researchers from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) have successfully mapped the interactions of over 100 active substances with around 8,000 proteins to help identify previously unknown benefits of existing drugs. Published in Nature Biotechnology, researchers yielded more than one million dose-responsive curves, which demonstrated the mechanism behind the effects of active substances over the course of treatment. Precision medicine is designed to optimise efficiency or therapeutic benefit for particular groups of patients using genetic or molecular profiling to provide patients with the most individualised treatment possible. To do this, a precise understanding of what is happening at the cellular level is required. Researchers treated cells with various doses of 144 active substances, most of which are already being used in cancer treatment or are in the clinical approval stage. Once extracted, the team analysed proteins using mass spectrometry before studying the cell reactions using the data. In cancer, depending ...
Current trends are driven by various strategic and financial considerations from both established pharmaceutical companies and development-stage biotech firms. Understanding the valuation and accounting implications of these transactions are crucial for stakeholders to navigate the complex landscape effectively. By Kristen SeaverThe biotechnology industry has witnessed significant shifts in recent years, particularly in the realm of both mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and collaborative agreements. These trends are driven by various strategic and financial considerations from both established pharmaceutical companies and development-stage biotech firms. Understanding the valuation and accounting implications of these transactions are crucial for stakeholders to navigate the complex landscape effectively. Trends in biotech transactions One of the prominent trends in the biotech sector is the acquisition of clinical-stage companies with compelling clinical development programs. Established pharmaceutical companies are increasingly acquiring development stage companies with promising clinical stage programs to bolster their drug development pipelines and mitigate the risks associated ...
