Enovis inks $847M acquisition to boost orthopedic reconstruction business

Dive Brief Enovis has struck an agreement to buy orthopedics company LimaCorporate for 800 million Euros ($847 million). The acquisition of the Italy-based company will scale Enovis’ global reconstruction unit, creating a $1 billion business that is forecast to grow in the high single digits and generate $40 million in cost synergies over the next three years. Vik Chopra, an analyst at Wells Fargo, said the acquisition was “much larger than what we were expecting,” in a conference call with Enovis management. Shares in Enovis rose 5% to $54.16 after the Delaware-based company disclosed the deal. The findings in the journal Gut add more evidence to the idea that brain and bowel health are intimately linked. Understanding why gut issues happen might allow earlier treatment of Parkinson’s, say the researchers. Parkinson’s is progressive, meaning the brain disorder gets worse over time. New in-ear device promises to predict fainting, help understand dizziness and brain fog

Digital health startup STAT Health has designed a device to help people better understand why they’re experiencing symptoms like dizziness, fainting and brain fog. STAT Health on Tuesday announced its new in-ear wearable, the STAT, which measures blood flow to the head. When users stand up, the earpiece automatically tracks changes in their heart rate, blood pressure trend and blood flow, which are useful insights for patients who commonly experience dizziness and fainting spells as a result of illnesses like long Covid and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), among others.
