Siemens Healthineers has unveiled a new variant of its Cios Select intraoperative imaging device with flat-panel detector technology to improve image quality and accuracy with low exposure to radiation.

The 21cm x 21cm flat-panel detector is claimed to comparatively expand the field of view by nearly 20% and provides higher grayscale resolution to enable precise visualisation of different anatomical structures.

The new Cios Select also comes with an easy-to-use, intuitive touchscreen interface for easy OR control and wide mobile C-arm opening for quick positioning.

It also features various other capabilities specific for intraoperative imaging in surgical procedures involving orthopaedics, trauma, urology, pain management, and peripheral vasculature.

Siemens Healthineers Surgery general manager Peter Seitz said: “Cios Select with flat-panel detector technology combines premium imaging quality with economical design.

“The result is improved patient care in routine surgery, and costs are also kept under control.”

“The result is a system that offers excellent images, is easy to operate, and is highly reliable. The result is improved patient care in routine surgery, and costs are also kept under control.”

The firm has also unveiled a new ultrasound system, Acuson Juniper, designed based on feedback from 365 participants of its ultrasound co-creation project.

Customisable for different patient interactions, the lightweight device is said to be suitable for a broad range of anatomies and physiologies.

Acuson Juniper employs a new imaging platform, front-end engine, signal processor, and back-end engine. It has 16 transducers and can be used in radiology, interventional radiology, urology, cardiovascular, orthopaedic, and obstetrics / gynaecological imaging.
