UK-based firm Remote Diagnostic Technologies (RDT) has introduced a new system, Tempus ALS, to enable monitoring and defibrillation to improve emergency responses.

Intended to mitigate the burden on paramedics, the light, modular and military-grade Tempus ALS system includes a 3.2kg advanced vital signs monitor and a 2kg professional defibrillator.

The system slots into a paramedic’s fully equipped grab bag and lightens the load carried, while its compact design enables standardisation and deployment flexibility for all types of vehicles such as bikes, cars, ambulances and helicopters.

A dual screen capability has been added to the system to allow independent functioning of the monitor and defibrillator, as well as their automatic pairing when together.

This capability is intended to enable the user to focus on critical information for better recognition and management of a deteriorating patient.

The Tempus ALS is based on the Tempus platform that includes smart data capture and sharing capabilities to facilitate various applications such as integration of data with existing patient record systems.

With flexibility for upgrade and incorporation of new technologies, the Tempus platform comes with advanced accessory options for video laryngoscopy, ultrasound and anaesthetic gas monitoring.

The Tempus ALS has been first deployed at Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Trust (KSSAAT) in South East England.
