Fortimedix Surgical said today it launched a shorter set of instruments for its SymphonX single-port surgical platform in the US.

The newly launched product line offers shorter instrumentation for use with the SymphonX surgical platform, a single-port system designed for microlaparoscopic surgical procedures, Fortimedix said.

The instrument portfolio for the SymphonX system includes products for grasping, mobilizing, dissecting, retracting, cutting, cauterizing, ligating and suction and irrigation of tissues and vessels, the Netherlands-based company said.

“This product line extension was developed in response to surgeon feedback. We have used these shorter instruments during cholecystectomy, inguinal hernia repair and several gynecologic procedures including tubal sterilization and ovarian cyst treatment with positive results, confirming the versatility of the platform across surgical specialties. The launch of SymphonX Instruments short signifies a substantial milestone as we continue to execute on our strategy to establish broad based market adoption of SymphonX and elevate the standard of care in laparoscopy,” sales VP David Castiglioni said in a press release.

Last month, Fortimedix Surgical touted a feasibility study of its SymphonX surgical platform designed for transanal colon resections, touting reduced operative trauma with the device.
