"/Recently, Denspensinord and Siemens Healthineers announced a partnership with the School of Dentistry at the University of Minnesota to install the first dental dedicated MRI (ddMRI) in the United States.

It is reported that the research project will explore the planned MAGNETOM Free The potential features of Max Dental Edition for dental imaging and diagnosis include the potential advantages of ddMRI in preventing and correcting oral care.

Based on the proven outstanding achievements of the University of Minnesota Magnetic Resonance Research Center in MRI research, Denspensinord and Siemens Healthineers have decided to install the system at the school's School of Dentistry for research purposes.

01. Installation of the first dental specific MRI
According to the data, the MAGNETOM Free. Max Dental Edition MRI system is a joint research initiative between Densburg Sinode and Siemens Healthineers aimed at exploring new opportunities in the field of dental imaging.

By utilizing MRI to achieve high contrast visualization of soft tissue structures and lesions, it is expected that this technology can make previously invisible situations clear and visible, further providing diagnostic information for dentists. This system is designed to meet the specific needs of the dental industry, and its scanning protocol is tailored to dental indications, with specialized features that facilitate patient preparation and provide excellent image quality.

Donald Hardie, head of marketing and sales operations for magnetic resonance imaging at Siemens Healthineers, said, "In order to continuously innovate in the healthcare field and improve the accessibility of high-quality medical services, we are committed to exploring the potential of new clinical areas. To this end, we are collaborating with like-minded partners and look forward to integrating the advanced research results of the Oral and Maxillofacial MRI Center at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry into the ongoing development process of dental specific MRI that we are jointly developing with Densburg Sinode.

The ddMRI program has the ability to provide information on soft tissue, neural, and inflammatory activity, which may enable early detection of oral diseases and help prevent overtreatment or undertreatment. Preliminary studies have shown that it has great potential in non radiative imaging for indications such as wisdom tooth extraction, pulp disease, temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ), periodontitis, and orthodontics.

Don Nixdorf, Director of the Department of Temporomandibular Joint Disorders and Oral and Facial Pain at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and Co Director of the Oral and Maxillofacial MRI Center, said, "Dental specific MRI has the potential to open up a new frontier in the field of dental and maxillofacial diagnosis. From increasing diagnostic confidence to early detection of oral cavity diseases, this technology has the potential to become a true disruptor in the dental industry. We have seen some promising research results from ddMRI, and I look forward to continuing to conduct research in this exciting field.

02. Technological advantages of the world's first dental MRI
It is reported that MAGNETOM Free. Max Dental Edition is equipped with Siemens Healthineers' Dry Cool low liquid helium technology, requiring only 0.7 liters of liquid helium. This product is a supplement to existing imaging methods. By comparing soft tissue details, it transforms the previously "invisible" into "visible", which helps in the early diagnosis of oral diseases and avoids overtreatment or inadequate treatment.

Preliminary clinical trials have shown that MAGNETOM Free. Max Dental Edition has broad applicability in dental non radiative imaging. MAGNETOM Free. Max Dental Edition is equipped with a dental specific receiver coil, which simplifies patient settings and improves image quality.
A specific scanning protocol has been designed for dental indications, which automatically focuses on the tooth body and helps to efficiently capture images. The entire process is comparable to CBCT in terms of workflow and time, taking only 20 minutes or even less from setup, scanning to clearing.

In addition, the product adopts Dry Cool low liquid helium technology, which is compact in size and occupies less than 24 square meters, greatly reducing the requirements for infrastructure and easy to install.

03. The Century long Development History of the World's Largest Dental Manufacturer
Dunsboard is the world's largest manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies, headquartered in Pennsylvania. The company focuses on dental solutions and is a global leader in consumables, technology, and equipment. At the same time, it is committed to building a global digital dental and integrated solutions company.

In March 2016, Dentsply and Sirona announced a $13 billion equal merger, renaming the company Dentsply Sirona. The merger formed the world's largest manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies. Based on the over 100 year history of both companies, the company has become a trusted partner for dental clinics, hospitals, workshops, and authorized distributors.

According to the data, the business scope of Dunsboard includes dental disease prevention, dental restoration, orthodontics, root canal treatment, dental implantation, oral restoration, healthcare, etc.

It provides professional dental consumables, equipment, technology, and other specialized products, including CAD/CAM all ceramic restoration systems (CEREC), X-ray imaging systems, oral comprehensive treatment tables, treatment instruments, disinfection systems, as well as research and development, production, and sales of specialized products and consumables in the fields of root canal, restoration, technician, and implantation.

04. Prospects of the Dental Imaging Market
With the increasing emphasis on oral health, there is a growing demand for high-quality dental services, which has driven the development of the dental equipment market.

According to data from Fortune magazine, the global dental market is expected to reach $35.4 billion in 2023, growing from $38.95 billion in 2024 to $95.37 billion in 2032, with a compound annual growth rate of 11.8%. This market includes instruments and consumables used for diagnosing, preventing, and treating oral diseases such as periodontal disease, gingivitis, malocclusion, and dental caries.

The growth of the global dental market is mainly driven by the increase in the incidence rate of periodontal disease, tooth decay, malocclusion and other diseases. The increasing prevalence of oral health problems directly promotes the growth of demand for related treatment products, thereby driving market expansion. Meanwhile, with the increasing demand for aesthetic dentistry and the launch of new products by major companies, it is expected that the market will continue to maintain its growth momentum during the forecast period.

In the field of dental imaging, it is expected that by the end of 2025, the market will grow from $2.4853 billion in 2019 to $4.222593 billion, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.25%. With the rapid development of imaging technology in computer software, the development speed of imaging software applied in the dental industry has greatly increased.

It should be pointed out that the dental dedicated MRI (ddMRI) jointly developed by Densbach Nordisk and Siemens Healthineers is also the world's first dental dedicated MRI. Prior to this, the dental imaging market was mainly divided into dental CBCT, dental optical imaging, dental X-ray systems, intraoral cameras, intraoral imaging, and intraoral imaging by technology, methods, and applications.
