Global medical technology giant Medtronic has announced the launch of its ten-year "Medtronic Spark" program, aimed at paving a path to high paying health technology careers for one million young people from low-income families.
As 2030 approaches, the healthcare and technology industries are facing an unprecedented talent crisis. It is predicted that these two industries will face a total shortage of 15 million professionals, with the health technology sector alone facing a shortage of 4.3 million, and healthcare workers expected to face a huge shortage of 11 million. This severe situation poses a serious challenge to low-income countries and students.
The Medtronic Spark program emerged, which is not just a plan, but also a revolution. Through three core projects - Spark Certification, Spark Innovation Lab, and Spark Scholarship, Medtronic is tackling the pain point of talent shortage with unprecedented efforts.

A survey jointly conducted by Medtronic and Morning Consult shows that 72% of Americans are worried about the talent shortage in the healthcare industry, which is far more than other industries. However, only 35% of the respondents believe that society is fully prepared.
However, opportunities and challenges coexist. With the global health technology industry expected to surpass a market value of $775 billion by 2029, countless young people are poised to seize this historic opportunity. Medtronic is well aware that education, skills, and competitiveness are the stepping stones for young people to enter successful careers.
ally Saba, The goal of the Medtronic Spark program is not just to touch the lives of young people, but to completely change their life trajectories. The opportunities we provide in the field of health technology will open a door to future success for them, and this impact will transcend generations, lasting and far-reaching.
The Medtronic Spark program will be launched globally, covering every corner of Medtronic's established business. This plan provides the following three major supports for the new generation of workers:
Authentication

Medtronic deeply understands that only by comprehensively addressing students' economic, psychological, and social barriers can we truly help them successfully complete their studies.
02. Achieve mid single digit organic revenue growth for nine consecutive quarters
Recently, Medtronic released its Q3 financial report for the fiscal year 2025, which showed that the company's revenue reached approximately $8.3 billion, an increase of 2.5% on a reporting basis and 4.1% on an organic basis.
Among them, the revenue of cardiac ablation solutions business increased by more than 20%, mainly due to the strong performance of pulsed field ablation (PFA) products. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that it will cover renal denervation for the treatment of hypertension, and the final decision is expected to take effect on or before October 11, 2025.
Medtronic Chairman and CEO Geoff Martha said, "We achieved strong profits this quarter, driven by the ninth consecutive quarter of mid single digit organic revenue growth, with significant improvements in gross profit margin and operating profit margin. We are starting to see long-term investment results in breakthrough innovation areas, such as pulse field ablation technology, which are driving growth.
The company continues to expect organic revenue growth in the fiscal year 2025 to be within the range of 4.75% to 5%.
In the second quarter of 2025, when the Trump administration's decision targeted the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other key health departments in an attempt to cut their budgets, this move not only caused a huge uproar domestically, but also sparked deep concern globally about the future direction of the healthcare industry.
Today, Rao Yi, former dean of the School of Life Sciences at Peking University, issued a statement regarding this matter, stating that "the achievements of biomedical research are shared by all mankind; science is one of the main bridges that helps people from different countries understand each other.
Professor Rao Yi's remarks are particularly valuable in the current trend of "anti globalization" quietly rising.
As a leading enterprise in the global healthcare industry, Medtronic's investment in future global medical technology talents is a vivid practice of Professor Rao Yi's concept of "scientific bridge". It proves that even in the face of globalization setbacks, the healthcare industry can still become a link between different countries and cultures, promoting global harmony and progress through a common goal of improving human health.
