Recently, Changzhou Boyi Technology Group Co., Ltd. (“Boyi Group”) announced the completion of its Series B1 and B2 financing rounds. Series B1 was exclusively invested by BGI Songhe, while Series B2 was led by Zero2IPO Investment, with participation from Jiangsu Changzhou High-end Functional Materials Industry Special Fund of Funds (Limited Partnership), Jiangsu Huaian Digital Manufacturing Industry Special Fund of Funds (Limited Partnership) under Huaian Venture Capital Group, existing shareholders Jinyu Maowu and BGI Songhe, and strategic investors. The total financing amount for Series B1 and B2 rounds is nearly RMB 100 million. The funds raised will primarily be used for the research and development of new materials and intelligent protein purification systems, as well as accelerating global commercial promotion and implementation.
Founded in January 2022, Boyi Group owns three major brands: Tiandi Renhe, Boyi Bio, and ACE. Its business covers high-performance bio-purification packing materials, high-efficiency life science research reagents, high-standard key raw materials, and related technical services. With materials science as its core underlying technology, the company develops upstream and downstream life science tool products focusing on protein research, providing customers with comprehensive solutions. Boyi Group's long-term goal is to become a globally influential provider of intelligent protein research solutions, build an open industrial ecosystem, and ultimately fulfill its noble mission of safeguarding life through science.
In 2013, with the determination to create an independent national chromatography brand, the founding team of Boyi established Tiandi Renhe in a simple laboratory in Changzhou. Over the past decade, the company has started from scratch and developed a variety of core products, including agarose packing, dextran, polymer packing, silica gel packing, magnetic beads, and protein preforms, forming a purification product matrix of more than 300 kinds. It has achieved "100% original research technology, 100% domestic supply chain, and 100% self-produced core raw materials", adapting to the full-scenario needs of biopharmaceutical research and development to production.
In April of this year, Boyi Group officially opened its new headquarters, covering approximately 45 acres, and put into operation 10 fully automated biological purification filler production lines, with a maximum designed single-batch capacity of 10,000L, breaking through the industry's existing capacity ceiling. Simultaneously, Boyi's Huai'an precast adhesive production center also commenced operations in April of this year. The company's precast adhesive products have already achieved the highest national shipment volume, and the operation of the Huai'an precast adhesive production center has doubled the company's precast adhesive production capacity and efficiency.
Currently, Boyi Bio has embarked on a new journey of globalization and intelligentization. On September 7th, Boyi Bio signed a strategic cooperation agreement with BGI Genomics, integrating their respective advantages in protein purification and automated intelligent equipment to explore intelligent upgrade paths for biomanufacturing. Recently, based on over two decades of expertise in protein purification and combined with extensive literature and industry data, the company launched Qianzhang, a full-process AI agent for protein purification scenarios. This agent helps users develop a first-round, executable pilot-scale plan starting from necessary information. The company aims to achieve a complete industry chain of "intelligent equipment and functional materials technology services," addressing industry technical pain points and helping customers build efficient and stable protein R&D systems.
Fang Li, General Manager of Boyi Group, said: "We are very grateful for the recognition and support from investors. Over the past thirteen years, Boyi has grown from 3 people to 300 people, and from a few products to hundreds of products. The company has completed a brand upgrade from 'giving customers more choices' to 'giving customers better choices.' The completion of this round of financing will inject strong momentum into the company's accelerated global commercialization of intelligent protein purification solutions."
Zeng Xiaoyu, Managing Partner of Changzhou Huada Songhe Fund, stated, “We are optimistic about the long-term development opportunities for the localization of core technologies and key materials in the upstream of life sciences. Boyi Group has deep expertise in the field of protein purification, and with its solid technological accumulation, continuous R&D innovation, and constantly improving product portfolio, it has gradually built a comprehensive capability covering purification packing materials, intelligent equipment, and technical services. We are delighted to witness the company's continuous progress in technological innovation, capacity building, and commercial expansion. We also look forward to Boyi Group using this round of financing as an opportunity to further leverage its technological and industrial synergies, accelerate the large-scale application of domestically produced high-end protein purification products, and contribute to the independent control and high-quality development of the biopharmaceutical industry chain.”
Zhang Fang, Investment Director of Tsinghua Venture Capital, stated, "Boyi Group has been deeply involved in upstream 'bottleneck' materials for biopharmaceuticals. For many years, we have been dedicated to providing comprehensive solutions for pharmaceutical clients, truly achieving 100% original technology, 100% domestic supply chain, and 100% self-production of core raw materials. Our product quality rivals that of imports, making Tiandi Renhe a household name in the packing material brand within the industry. We look forward to Boyi Group continuing to innovate and providing more pharmaceutical companies with intelligent protein research solutions, adapting to the full-scenario needs of biopharmaceuticals from R&D to production."
Li Hongsen, a partner at Jinyu Maowu Medical, said, "As a Series A investor, we have witnessed Boyi Bio's significant progress in business, market, and facilities, and we are also pleased to have new shareholders joining Boyi Bio. Jinyu Maowu has been deeply involved in the life sciences field and has invested in nearly 30 companies. Currently, 6 of these companies have gone public, and 1 company has exited through merger and acquisition. In the future, we will continue to provide post-investment services to support Boyi Bio's development."
