With a view to reducing waiting time for patients, a group of doctors in a Nigerian hospital has unveiled a mobile app. The app is expected to bring a paradigm change in healthcare delivery services in the country.

A report has alluded to the fact that patients in public hospitals in Nigeria undergo an average of two hours of waiting time before a doctor attends to them. The app launched is known as KompleteCare and is easily accessible from the Google play store on a mobile phone interface. The app is a collaborative effort of Sevenz Healthcare, a company in Nigeria and the Society for Family Physicians of Nigeria (SOFPON).

The app was launched for the public at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH), Uyo by Dominic Ukpong, Commissioner of Health in the Akwa Ibom State. Launched on May 18, it marked the celebration of SOFPON’s 2018 World Family Doctor’s Day.

According to a statement issued by SOFPON, an online meeting interface is provided by the app for doctors and patients where consultation, examination and drug prescription can take place. This is anticipated to help reduce patient crowds at public hospitals to a great extent.

Doctors across the country can register on the app, use it and get paid for its services.
