On October 28, 2024, Medtronic announced the appointment of Dr. Matthew Kroh as Chief Medical Officer for Advanced and General Surgery Technologies. Dr. Matthew Crowe is the Vice President of Innovation and Technology at the Cleveland Clinic Digestive Disease and Surgery Institute. He has participated in numerous research projects in this field, including fluorescence microscopy as an auxiliary tool for laparoscopic gastric band adjustment in morbidly obese patients, predictive factors for advanced liver disease in patients undergoing weight loss surgery, development of new Barrett's esophagoscope management equipment, and new methods for minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, including robotics technology, single incision laparoscopic surgery, NOTES surgery, POEM, and ESD surgery.
He is a member of associations such as the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Surgeons, the American Society of Metabolic and Obesity Surgery, the American Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the Association of Surgical Educators, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopists, and the Central Surgical Association.

02. Medtronic Surgeons Hires Expert as Chief Medical Officer
The change in executives indicates that Medtronic's layout in surgery is gradually increasing.
In September of this year, Medtronic officially appointed Dr. James Porter, a urology specialist, as the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Robotics and Digital Technology in the surgical business. Dr. Porter has extensive experience in over 5000 robot assisted surgeries in the field of urology and is recognized as a "recognized leader" in the global surgical field. In addition, he is also one of the top robotic surgery experts in the United States, ranking among the top five in the country.
