On the morning of October 14, sponsored by the "the Belt and Road" Life Science and Technology Promotion Alliance, and jointly organized by the Shenzhen Life Science and Technology Industry University Research Capital Alliance, Suzhou Suda Health and Environmental Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Huada Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Co., Ltd., and Jiewen (Shenzhen) Technology Services Co., Ltd., the ESG standard seminar for the medical device industry was successfully held in Shenzhen. The purpose of this seminar is to jointly explore the current situation and challenges of ESG standards in the medical device industry, promote the formulation and implementation of standards, and enhance the industry's international competitiveness and sustainable development capabilities.
At the beginning of the meeting, relevant leaders from the Standards Department of Shenzhen Municipal Market Supervision Administration, Suzhou Medical Device Industry Development Group Co., Ltd., the "the Belt and Road" Life Technology Promotion Alliance, and Suzhou Suda Health and Environmental Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd. attended the meeting and delivered important speeches. Chen Mingang, a second level researcher at the Standards Department of the Shenzhen Municipal Administration for Market Regulation, pointed out in his speech that as a strategic emerging industry with national key development, the ESG practices of the medical device industry not only affect the sustainable development of enterprises themselves, but also have a profound impact on the global ecological environment and human health. He emphasized that with the transformation from "Made in China" to "Made in China", medical device companies should actively embrace ESG concepts, promote technological innovation and industrial upgrading, and achieve high-quality development.
Xu Yuan, Deputy General Manager of Suzhou Medical Device Industry Development Group Co., Ltd., stated in her speech that Suzhou High tech Zone, as the only region in Jiangsu Province's "one zone, one industry" strategic layout that focuses on supporting the development of the medical device industry, has always been committed to building a sound industrial chain and accurate development ecology. She looks forward to gathering the wisdom and strength of all parties through this seminar, jointly promoting the ESG standardization construction of the medical device industry, and injecting new momentum into the development of the medical device industry in Suzhou High tech Zone and even the whole country.
Li Taosha, Secretary General of the "the Belt and Road" Life Science and Technology Promotion Alliance, introduced the founding purpose, main achievements, development vision and other basic information of the "the Belt and Road" Life Science and Technology Promotion Alliance in his speech. The Alliance is an international social group explicitly supported by the Outline of the Development Plan for the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council. At present, the Alliance has developed 195 member units at home and abroad, issued 6 and approved 11 regional standards for the "the Belt and Road Initiative". In the future, the Alliance will further carry out practical cooperation in standard formulation, system comparison, technical exchange, technical training, etc., focus on improving capabilities, and promote rule coordination.
Wang Lijie, General Manager of the Medical Device Division of Suzhou Suda Health and Environmental Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd., stated in her speech that Suda Testing, as an important participant in this seminar, not only actively participated in the discussion and exchange of various agendas, but also demonstrated the company's practical experience and achievements in the ESG field. Since its establishment, the company has been committed to solving key links and challenges in the research and development, validation, preclinical research, testing, and evaluation of medical device products and materials, while actively fulfilling responsibilities such as environmental protection, social welfare, and good governance. Guided by the ESG philosophy, Suda Testing will continuously promote technological innovation and green development, contributing to the sustainable development of the medical device industry.
In order to further build a scientific and reasonable ESG evaluation system and provide a feasible ESG management framework for medical device enterprises, Suzhou Suda Health and Environmental Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd., in conjunction with the Shenzhen Life Science and Technology Industry University Research Investment Alliance, Shenzhen Huada Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Co., Ltd., and Jiewen (Shenzhen) Technology Service Co., Ltd., jointly drafted and released the "ESG Standards for Medical Device Enterprises". This standard will strive to help businesses better fulfill their environmental, social, and corporate governance responsibilities.
At the seminar, many well-known experts and business representatives from both domestic and foreign countries had in-depth exchanges on the international experience of ESG standards. Wang Hancheng, an expert from the ESG Research Institute of Soochow University, focused on sharing MSCI ratings and ESG information disclosure strategies for medical device companies, providing valuable international perspectives and cutting-edge thinking for the attendees.
At the same time, EHS expert Tong Sheng from Shenzhen Huada Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Co., Ltd., executive deputy leader of the ESG special working group of the China Medical Device Industry Association Guan Yan, senior partner Xu Guofei from Dacheng Law Firm, and deputy general manager Xu Ran from Jiewen Medical Equipment Group also gave detailed explanations on the low-carbon development path and carbon reduction project cases of enterprises, the ESG status of listed companies in the industry, and the active exploration and significant achievements of Chinese enterprises in the ESG field, providing practical experience for the industry to learn from.
The successful holding of this seminar marks an important step forward for the medical device industry in ESG standardization construction. In the future, Suda Testing will continue to uphold the concept of "green, healthy, and sustainable development", work together with colleagues in the industry, and jointly promote the green and high-quality development of China's medical device industry.
