After obtaining CB certification, manufacturers can convert it into certification for multiple countries. The CB Scheme is based on International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards, through which manufacturers can use a CB Test Certificate issued by a National Certification Body (NCB) to obtain national certifications from other member countries of the CB Scheme. Here are some of the national certifications that can be converted from CB certification:

Ⅰ. Countries Where CB Certification Can Be Converted

  • Europe: Germany (VDE, GS, etc.) /  France / United Kingdom / Netherlands / Spain / Italy / Austria / Sweden / Switzerland, etc.
  • Americas: United States (UL, ETL, etc.) / Canada (CSA, ULC, etc.) / Mexico / Brazil.
  • Asia-Pacific: Australia (RCM, SAA, etc.) / New Zealand / Japan / South Korea (KC Mark) / Singapore / India / Thailand.
  • Other Regions: South Africa / Turkey / Russia / Ukraine / Argentina / Brazil (Note: Listed twice as Brazil is mentioned in both Americas and Other Regions sections, but the context remains the same) / Uruguay, etc.

Ⅱ. Conversion Process

If a company has already obtained a CB Test Certificate and CB Test Report, it can directly apply for national certification in other countries. The certification body of the country being applied to will review the CB Test Certificate and Report, including any reports related to national differences. In some cases, a small number of samples may be required. If the review results are satisfactory, the company can obtain the national certification without having to conduct additional tests in accordance with the rules and procedures of the country being applied to.

Ⅲ. Notes

National Differences: When applying for conversion to other national certifications, manufacturers must be aware of potential national differences that may exist in different countries. These differences may require supplementary testing during the difference testing process.

Certificate Validity: The CB certification itself has no expiration date, and can be used indefinitely as long as the standards remain unchanged and there are no special requirements from customers. However, after conversion to a specific national certification, it may be subject to the validity period restrictions of that country's certification.

Preparation of Materials: When applying for conversion, manufacturers need to prepare relevant technical documents and samples for review and testing by the certification body of the country being applied to.

In conclusion, CB certification provides convenience for manufacturers, enabling their products to enter multiple international markets more easily. However, when applying for conversion to other national certifications, manufacturers must still pay attention to the differences and requirements of each country."/
